Home from Hospital

Yesterday we came home from hospital. We seem to be settling in to life at home with two cheeky monkeys.
Matilda has been great and we went with Daddy to pick her up from school today.

She likes saying hello to her baby sister and checking her out to see what she is doing. For the first time tomorrow all four of us will be home for the day, Daddy is off work and Matilda has the day off school.

My Baby Sister

Mummy, Daddy and I would like to announce the safe arrival of my baby sister newbie. Newbie is now known as Charlotte Mae Eliza born on the 7th of Feb, 2012 at 8:30 pm. Charlotte is 50.5 cm long and her head circumference is 36 cm (same as mine were)!!
She weighed 9 lb 4 oz or 4.2 kilos so not quite as heavy.

First full day at school

This morning I dropped Miss Monkey (who today was a puppy dog) at school for her first full day.

She started at 8:30 and I picked her up again at 3 so it was a long day for her, not sure if she had a nap at school or not I forgot to ask the teacher about that one.

She has already made a new friend :) that was great to hear.

After school we went shopping to buy her a special pillow and rug to take to school for nap time, she was okay leaving the sheet at school but wanted to bring her "itchy" blanket home. Her blanket isn't itchy it just isn't as soft as the "fluffy" one.

We will see how she goes tomorrow when she wakes up, if sh e wants to go to school or not, and what time she gets up! She woke up nice and early this morning at 6:30.

Newbie news - still no signs of her appearing any time soon, next check up is on Monday.

First Day at School

This morning I dropped Matilda off for her first day at school.

It was great to see her just go and sit with all the other kids and listen to the story, I think she is going to have lots of fun today :) It is only half a day today so will go and pick her up at lunch time.

Tomorrow will be her first full day at school! Can't have a first day at school without a photo, I'll have to take a couple more when I pick her up hopefully that isn't blurry!

Love you big girl ... still no sign of newbie appearing yet!

Happy 3rd Birthday gorgeous Matilda :) I can't believe you are THREE.

It is hard to think that three years ago we were sitting in hospital holding a newborn baby and now we have a three year old who is off to kinder next week.

Looking forward to hearing about all the new things that you do and learn this year.

Happy New Year everyone, just noticed that this was the first post for 2012.

We are still waiting for "sister" to arrive as Matilda calls her but in the mean time I've added another photo of the monkey ... covered in mud after playing in the sand pit outside.

On Wednesday we are off to get Matilda's uniform for school, and next week she will be THREE!!!

Girly Day today

Today we decided to have a girly day.

We went to the hair dressers and got our hair trimmed (mine chopped) and then we had lunch.

Then we went to the library to read a few stories and borrow some new books, when she gets up from her nap we will go to the park as well.

Trip to the Farm

Today we decided to go to the farm.

Matilda got to pat lots of baby animals and ride on the tractor. Better do all these things now before "sister" arrives.

Today we went to the shops and Matilda saw Santa, "I go see Santa??????"

On Thursday last week we went to Werribee Zoo and we went for a bus ride and saw the animals.

On Friday we went to swimming.

On Saturday we went to Matilda's school to check it out.

On Sunday we had the playgroup Christmas Party and Matilda got her arm painted with a rainbow and butterflies.

Yesterday we went to creche.

Today we went to Matilda's school and Matilda listened to a story about a black hen and the fox. Then we went to library and Matilda listened to more stories and coloured in a bus. Then we got some veggies and meat for our stir fry for dinner.

Off to the Zoo

This morning we went to swimming and when we got back I was feeling pretty good so we decided to go and see the animals at the Zoo.

Sleepy monkey!

Decided to take Matilda to the park at Lilydale Lake because it is nice and sunny outside and we still haven't been there since they have redone the playground, last time we tried to go the carpark was full and we couldn't find a spot.

I said do you want to go to the big park? "Yes Mummy" so off we went.

Got to the carpark at the lake turned around to see what she was up to and get ready to get her out of the car and this is how I found her!! (see photo blog for photo)!

Cheeky miss monkey must have been tired out from creche this morning.

The school holidays are over. Yesterday the cheeky monkey didn't want to get dressed so we didn't end up going to creche.

Today she had breakfast and got dressed because we were going back to music. Now I have my cheeky monkey back to normal again and she is not getting in to everything like she was yesterday.

She paid attention to everything in class and enjoyed herself as well.

Not sure how we will survive January without music, argh!! will worry about that when it gets closer.

Drive through the Hills

Today we decided to go for a drive through the hills to Healesville Sanctuary to check out the Australian animals.

Miss Monkey had a lot of fun, chatting to the pelicans and looking at all the information about each of the animals. Hope this sunny weather keeps up, great for spending time in the sun outside. She doesn't like being inside very much.

Trip to the City

Last week we went to the city for a few days with Daddy while he has been on holidays.

We went to the museum where Miss Monkey saw lots of dinosaur skeletons and came home with a T-Rex!
We went to the aquarium where Miss Monkey fed the fish and got splashed and ...

Can't be in the city without going to the Zoo! She really loves her animals.

Today we went to music and she had lots of fun, although now I have to make a "Funky Monkey" for Kate the teacher. Cheeky Miss Monkey!

Yay Miss Monkey, today at swimming she listened to the teacher and did everything that the teacher asked her to do, blowing bubbles, singing songs, doing actions and jumping in from the edge.

Then she decided to spend the next hour playing in the pool, by the time we got out we looked like prunes :)

She has spent the rest of the afternoon eating eating and eating!! All that swimming makes her hungry. No sleep today.

Lunch Date

Today we walked to playgroup and then to the shops afterwards.

We decided to stop there and have lunch too, first was a babychino for Matilda and hot chocolate for Mummy, then we shared some chicken lasagna for the main course.

Monkey's reaction to the lasagna?? "Mmmmm delicious" :) I think she liked it. She had a nap this afternoon when she got home and is STILL asleep five hours later, I think someone is going to be up early tomorrow morning.

Another day at the Zoo

On Friday we went to the Zoo again, Matilda loves her animals so why not :)

An hour trying to find a car park and then half an hour in the queue later we were finally in the Zoo itself!

We saw lots of animals and Matilda had her first ride on the Carousel.

Our adventure

Today we decided to go to the Zoo with a difference, we caught the train!

Matilda was very excited to be catching the train, just wasn't too impressed by the colour of it!
We got the first train and went a few stops then had to change trains for the rest of the trip into the city, and then another train for the trip out of the city again.

When we got to the Zoo we saw all the animals that she loves including a tiny baby meerkat.

Then it was time to catch the two trains again on the way home. We took a few photos of the animals and the "have to have my photo on the elephant" that she insists on every time we go to the Zoo. Will post the photos shortly. We picked a good day to go because it will be raining for the rest of the week!

Daddy stayed home this time because he wasn't feeling well, get better soon Daddy!!!

This morning I had a dentist appointment which meant 1.5 hours in the dentist chair!
Matilda came with me and she sat there in the room quietly in the corner for the whole time.

Trip to the farm

Today Mummy and Matilda went to the farm. We saw some cows, lambs, pigs, ducks, goats, rabbits, chickens, roosters and emus. The ducks and the emus tried to eat Mummy's fingers.

Matilda pat the lambs and the rabbits and the piggies. She was very excited about each new animal that we saw.

Great way to spend part of the afternoon although Matilda should have worn her gumboots because her new shoes got covered in mud.

Tomorrow we are off to the city because Mummy has another dentist appointment.

Out and about

It has been a while since the blog was last updated ... so Daddy tells us!

We have been to visit Nanna, and to the Zoo with Angelene, we also went to vist Grandma and Grandpa and saw Great Grandpa there too, and we went to the Zoo again, this time with Daddy.

Haven't taken any new photos for a while so better take some soon, will wait until Matilda gets over the last of her cold so she has a clean nose in the photos!

Off to music again today. Matilda got up early to make sure that we got there on time.

Mothers Day ...

What did we do today for Mothers Day? Same thing we've done the last two Mothers Days ... we were in the city doing the Mothers Day Classic :)

This year we did the 8 km walk and were very wet by the end of it. Matilda was pretty chuffed getting her first medal too.

Next year she will probably be walking part of the distance with me, it was a bit wet for her to do it today.

Great to see so many people there doing it today as well raising money for breast cancer research.

Walk to the Library

Today we had to go to the library to return some books so we went for a walk.

We stopped off at the park on the way home so that Matilda could have a run around and a play at the park.

She also came with me to my Playgroup meeting tonight and was very well behaved.

Thank you Matilda for being such a good girl today!

Tomorrow we are off to gym/creche again.

Monkey and slides - take two

This time she is going down the medium sized slide ... I've told her she is not big enough to go down the really big one!! She still looks at it each time we go hoping I'll change my mind.

These holidays we have been going to the park and going to creche both of which Matilda loves to do.
We have also had our daily "Go to shops - get veggies" where she tells everyone what each of the veggies are as they get put up on the counter.

Next month we have got this years Mothers Day Classic walk, it is hard to think that when we did last years on she wasn't walking yet, now look at her you can't stop her from RUNNING around everywhere "Chase Me Chase Me" she says.

Today we went to the Collingwood Children's Farm with Angelene. Matilda thought it was great fun seeing two farms in two days! She gets so excited when she sees the animals :)

Trip to the Farm

This morning we went to playgroup and there wasn't any one there. So we came back home again.
We went to the shops a bit later on to get a few things and then came home for lunch.

After lunch we decided to go see the animals at the farm for a little while. We saw goats, pigs, cows, ducks, chickens and sheep. Not many animals there and not much to see but Matilda loves animals and we still got to do something today :) Yay

Tomorrow we have got swimming again. There are a couple of photos from the farm, just waiting for the batteries on the camera to recharge before putting them on the photo blog.

My little training buddy

As some of you may already know I'm on a mission to lose those extra kilos so that I can enjoy running around with Matilda and having fun.

This isn't too hard to do when she loves to be outside in the sun and will happily let you chase her around the back yard, if I want to do exercises she will start counting them for me, ONE, TWO :)

No better motivation when exercising to hear Matilda say YAY MUMMY at the top of her voice.

I need to do this program, I need to be healthy and set a great example for Matilda, I've been updating my blog about it and as a result haven't updated this one!

We got to creche this morning and as we drove into the carpark she said Yay Mummy, Creche, we are here!! She loves creche and I love going to the gym. That works well for both of us.

Time to be good with this program and get some sleep. Hopefully Matilda won't be up so early in the morning, if not we will have to rug up and go for an early morning walk! If the weather is fine we will walk to playgroup again like we did last week too.

Hi Everyone

It has been pretty busy around here lately being back to music, creche, swimming and playgroup.

Sometimes I think we need another day off in there somewhere and that is when we skip the gym class and go for a walk instead. Tonight we went for a walk before dinner and Matilda was telling me about all the cars that she could see, red one, blue one, white truck, apparently a ute or a van = truck if you ask Matilda.

Daddy was asking her where her left hand was tonight and she pointed to the left one :) Yay Matilda.
She is learning more and more things each day.

Last week we caught up with Sam and Maddie, it was great for them to see each other, have to remember that they are there each week so we can meet up with them again soon.

Back to Music and another playdate

Today we had our first Mini Maestros session for the year and Matilda was very happy to be back at music, when we got there the first thing she said was "Drum"!!

She had lots of fun playing the drum.

We got a new song book, a new CD and a bumble bee puppet.

After music Jason came over for a playdate and they had fun chasing each other around. Then we went for a walk to the shops.

When we got back Matilda had a snooze with ... bumble bee! She had to introduce the bumble bee to Molly and everyone else in her bed ... she seems to think soon there will be that many toys in there she won't have to go to bed because there won't be any room left.

Playdate with Jason

This morning we went to playgroup and there was a bit of a birthday party for all the children that have had a birthday in the last week, including Matilda. Lots of yummy party food to try and an ice cream cake. Yum.

After playgroup we went to go visit Jason, his birthday is two days before Matilda's but he was also born early and spent a bit longer in hospital.

It is great to see him running around with Matilda and her chasing him.

Tomorrow we are back to swimming.

We just got a(nother) letter

Nearly a week later and Matilda's birthday is still happening.

Went to the letterbox today and found a parcel addressed to Mummy.
Thinking hmmm not expecting anything, check the back of the box and notice that it is probably for Matilda.

Open the box and there is a present inside.

Matilda loves her new present so of course we had to ring Barb to say thank you for it. :)

Trip to the Botanical Gardens

Today we went to the Botanical Gardens with Leon and Menya, it was nice and sunny and we had a great day.

We even managed to have leftover birthday cake for dessert after lunch.

Thank you for a great day, looking forward to doing it again. Matilda said in the car "Animals - Zoo - please"
I think she likes the gardens but prefers the Zoo :)

Thank you also for Matilda's birthday present. She is not quite sure what to do with it yet but I am sure she will learn.

Dentist trip

Today we went to the dentist and Matilda was not very impressed about them putting pointing things near Mummy's mouth!! She cracked it. She was fine once she was sitting on my lap and had a better view of what was going on!

Then we went to visit Patsy at work to thank her for the new book that arrived in the post today for Matilda's birthday.

I also found a new book for Matilda for being so good at the dentist. Thank you Matilda, even if you cracked it again when we got home. I think yesterday is still catching up with her, at the moment she is eating her sandwich and watching Blues Clues and is a lot calmer. She will be going back to bed for a sleep this afternoon at her normal time.

She keeps asking to go see the animals, she wants to go to the zoo again, Mummy animals, giraffes? elephants? car ride, animals please! ... Might have to go again on Sunday while Daddy is playing with the BIG train again.

Matilda's Second Birthday

Yesterday Matilda turned TWO, we had a great day, it was very quiet compared to last year but she enjoyed herself.

She liked the cake because she had another piece after dinner.

Thank you to Krysti, Paul & Emily for coming to play with Matilda she had great fun chasing Emily around.
Thank you also to Grandma and Grandpa for coming over, Matilda had fun playing with you too.

Back to normal today, off to the dentist for Mummy. I've put the link to the birthday photos on her photo blog.

Tomorrow will be Matilda's second birthday :) It is hard to believe that she is two years old already.
She has learnt so much and can do so much now, she can put on her own shoes, tell you when it is time for a snack and knows quite a few songs.

Old McDonald, Row row row your boat, twinkle twinkle, baa baa black sheep, and heads shoulders knees and toes are just a few I remember off the top of my head.

She also knows her numbers, colours and shapes and tries to sing the alphabet, not quite right but she is getting there.

We went on our first holiday together where Matilda slept somewhere other than in her own bed at home, that was fun because she got to build sand castles.

Matilda - it has been two years of lots of fun and games, and we are looking forward to see what new adventures we have got coming up.

as they say on Blues Clues, Matilda's fave show at the moment "We just got a letter, we just got a letter, we just got a letter I wonder who it's from?" In this case Matilda just got a parcel!!

Birthday presents from Bev & Jim, and Vicki & Fiona ... "thank you very much" says Matilda and we rang them today to say thank you.

I can't believe that next week she will be TWO. She is getting cheekier every day.

Love you Matilda :) I've added a photo to the photo blog that was taken on Tuesday when we went to the Zoo there are more photos to add but they are still on the camera.

Matilda had so much fun yesterday chasing the boys that she fell asleep while eating her dinner! She then woke up at 2 am very confused wondering why she was in bed with her clothes on. After changing to her pjs she still wasn't impressed and stayed awake until 3:30 am this morning ...

Other than that still love my cheeky monkey :) Will post a few more photos once I get them off the camera.

Another trip to the Zoo

Yesterday we went to visit the animals at the Zoo. Miss monkey had lots of fun checking out all the animals and we didn't even notice that we had been there for five hours walking around looking at the animals.

Thank you Angelene for coming to the Zoo with us again it was lots of fun until it came to trying to get home ... left the Zoo just after five, got home at 8 pm!!

yes Daddy it was a loooooong trip home :) Just going through all the photos now, half of them are of animals, the other half are of a certain little cheeky monkey. Might have to go once a month on a Sunday while Daddy is at Puffing Billy.

I love the way you can now have a conversation with Miss Monkey, "Matilda did you enjoy the Zoo yesterday" "Yes, again?" I think she wants to go back again. She also loves farm animals so I'll need to take her to the farm again soon.

We're Back!

We just got back from our first holiday.

Tuesday - we travelled across to Sth Australia in the car, was a very long car ride for Miss Monkey but she enjoyed herself. She was a bit unsure about the ferry crossing the river but other than that she did really well in the car, just got a bit grumpy when she was tired.

We got in and she had her dinner and went to bed, there was a bit of a fuss being the first night in the portacot but other than that she was great :) She got up the next morning and wanted her weetbix as normal all ready to start a new day.

On Wednesday morning we went for a walk to the park and in the afternoon we went across to Granite Island on the horse drawn tram, Matilda liked the horses and the water. When we got back she went outside and found the sand and the water out there as well.

On Thursday we went to introduce Matilda to Bev & Jim and she had a sleep in the car on the way there and then had fun playing with the toys there, Thanks Bev & Jim for the afternoon tea, it was very nice. On the way home again Matilda told Daddy to be careful while driving back down the driveway, that was very funny, Daddy said she was not old enough to be a back seat driver!!

On Friday we went to Goolwa on the Cockle Train and Matilda fell asleep 10 minutes before we got there so while Daddy got to go and have a look around I had a sleeping miss monkey across my lap while waiting for the train to go back again. She was awake for the return trip and enjoyed checking out all the scenery.

On Saturday we went for a walk up the street and found a place that did Cino's ... she was really happy that she could still have a cino on holidays, she probably missed the ones we have after creche.

On Sunday we met up with lots of relatives, first of all we went to Fran's place and saw Fran and Grandpa, Andrew and Jen also came over with Nick, Samantha and Gemma. Matilda had great fun chasing Gemma around and also enjoyed the beef and chicken we had for our yummy lunch. Thank you Fran for a great lunch and I'm looking forward to trying out that dessert recipe as well. It was great to meet Jen in person after chatting to her online for a while too, now I can put a face with the name :)

After visiting Fran we went to go and see John and Meralyn and while we were there Vanessa and Danielle dropped in as well, great to see you both, two out of three is pretty good going, hopefully we will catch up with Breonny at some point as well. Matilda loved meeting Snoopy the dog. Thank you John & Meralyn for a nice afternoon tea, the muffins were great and I should get the recipe for them!

After visiting John and Meralyn we went to go and see Vicki and Matilda got to meet her cat, it was really funny watching Matilda try and play cars with a cat!! You can ask Daddy about that one and he will agree.

Yesterday we went for a drive around to The Bluff and around town to check it out.

Today we had another long day in the car driving back home. Matilda was great in the car again.

I'm very proud of my cheeky monkey and how well she did while we were on holidays.

Musical Monkey

This morning we went to the Mini Maestros Christmas Concert.

Miss Monkey did very well at the concert and followed most of the instructions. She really looked like she was enjoying herself (not that I could see much sitting behind her)!!

Daddy came with us and he brought the video camera so we all got to watch it again when we got home.

I think that song will be stuck in my head for a while "I have two eyes to see with ... I have two feet to run"
She had been running around the room during most of the practice sessions but today she sat there and tapped her sticks and had a great time.

Well done monkey :) Looking forward to getting more songs stuck in my head with you next year

Monkey's growing up

Little Miss Independent now likes to do things for herself which is great, just means they take longer and make more mess!

Previously at breakfast it was "bowl, weetbix, milk, Mummy spoon, Tima Spoon" (Tima = Matilda!)
now it is "bowl weetbix, milk, Tima spoon" no more mummy spoon.

And she also insists on using one of the normal teaspoons not one of hers for both her weetbix and her yoghurt (she eats that by herself too).

We went to the shopping centre today to attempt to get a Santa photo, will see how they turn out.

Play Date with Emily

Yesterday Matilda had a play date with her cousin Emily :) They both rode their tricyles to the park and went on the swings and slide and had a great time.

Today we went to swimming and got back to find a parcel of goodies in the letterbox. Matilda loved the purple balloon until it popped and her pink tshirt, both in support of Hannah's Foundation in memory of Hannah.

A morning at the Farm

Yesterday we went to the farm, a different on this time for the Playgroup Christmas Party.
We also took Daddy with us to see the animals :)
Matilda loved looking in the logs for the rabbits and seeing all the animals and telling us what they were.
She also loved what Daddy called the "meat banana" a sausage in bread, not sure how much bread got eaten but the sausage surely did!

She got a book from Santa ... not too sure about photos of her with Santa this year as now she is old enough to object to having them taken! Didn't like him at all yesterday.

She also managed to stay clean for most of the day until she tripped over into the muddy puddle as we were going to the car ... almost!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. We didn't go to gym & creche this morning because Matilda slept in! Must have been that yummy roast lamb dinner she had last night, and all that running around at the farm.

Yay, now that I've changed the layout of the photo blog I can post more than five photos at a time!!

Today we went to the dentist and she fell asleep in the car on the way home! Strange for her to have a sleep so early in the afternoon, she must either be growing or exhausted from all that walking yesterday.

I think I have found a walking buddy, she is not two yet but loves to walk.

Today we went to the Botanical Gardens and had a lovely walk around there, we stopped off and had fruit salad as well, Matilda tried rockmelon and wasn't too sure about that but loved the "juicy" which according to Matilda is watermelon.

She had a bit of a snooze in the car on the way home and then played with her toys before having her afternoon nap. She was also really happy to see Daddy when he got home from work and even called him "my Daddy" not just Daddy but now he is "my Daddy"!! Also loved the "Thank you Mummy" after she had dinner tonight, that was also very cute.

A few nights ago she graduated to the BIG bath and thinks bath time is lots of fun now and thankfully hasn't started splashing around as much in there ... yet!

There are a few photos up of her out and about during our walk today and one of her painting as well.

Story Time and Baking

On Tuesday after Music we went to the library for story time. Matilda had great fun joining in with all the kinder kids, the lady at the library could not believe that she wasn't two yet!!

Yesterday we went swimming and I took a photo of Matilda in her swim suit 'cos she has just about outgrown that one too!

I made brownies on Sunday and both Daddy and Matilda thought they were very yummy and there was almost a fight over the last one.

I have also found a way to entertain Matilda, she seems to love watching me cook and bake in the kitchen. She watched me make the lasagna we are having for dinner tonight and then we made a banana cake that is currently in the oven.

Just got a phone call from the gym to say we got a spot tomorrow morning at creche so we will be off there in the morning.

Hope everyone is well, there will be a few photos uploaded when I get the chance, computer is just about back to normal.

Mummy's computer is sick at the moment so she is borrowing Daddy's to do this quick blog update before she forgets what we have done!!

We have been outside in the garden looking at all the flowers, drawing shapes on the concrete with chalk and today we went to Chesterfield Farm just down the road a bit.

Matilda enjoyed seeing all the animals and I took a few photos but will upload them when my computer is feeling better after it gets rebuilt!

We saw ducks, pigs, sheep, cows, a pony, llamas, goats, dogs and chickens.
We also watched the farm show where we saw a cow being milked, a dog rounding up sheep and a sheep having a hair cut.

Matilda had lots of fun checking out all the animals and it is nice to know that it is just up the road so a good way to kill a few hours and for Matilda to learn all about the animals she knows the noises of..

As it is such a nice day outside today after Matilda has finished her lunch we will probably go to the park.

Just thought I'd say a quick hello and let you all know that I haven't forgotten the blog, just have a sick computer.

Out for Lunch

This morning we went to play group. Afterwards we went out for lunch with Grandma and Grandpa.
Matilda liked that idea because she got to have a babycino!!

After lunch we went to the park. Matilda loves the swing and the slide.

Grandma & Grandpa - Thank you for coming to visit, hope you come and play again soon.

Also happy to hear that Angelene is out of hospital so the next time we see her it will probably be off to Healesville or the Zoo again! Yay :) Glad to hear that you are feeling better.

Tomorrow we are back to the gym and creche again, if the weather is okay in the afternoon we will go for a walk around Jells Park.

Creative Matilda

On Sunday Daddy was volunteering at Puffing Billy again so it was just us.

First of all we went for a drive down to Belgrave but the traffic was hardly moving for most of the way, so we gave up on looking at the train go past and headed back home.

Being a nice sunny day we stopped off at the shopping centre so that we could have 'cinos

They brought out a kids menu for Matilda as well as some pencils to colour in the menu. Once we had finished our cino's we then went to the supermarket and did the shopping. I made the mistake of walking past the bakery and Matilda yelled out SCROLL!!! she really loves those cheesymite scrolls!

We came home and sat outside on the rug for a picnic lunch with our scrolls :) Then played with the play doh for a while before we came inside. Matilda then wanted to make Daddy a picture with her crayons, keeping an eye on her to make sure she didn't eat them!!

Yesterday it was back to creche and the beginning of a new term. We got home and the first thing Matilda said was picture, so out came a piece of paper and the crayons for more drawing.

Today was back to music with lots of shaking and dancing. Matilda likes getting her bee sticker at the end of the session and her stamps as well. We also got a new song book full of new songs to sing and learn.

Tomorrow is back to swimming and Thursday is back to playgroup again too .... yup the busy weeks are back!
Right now we have to go to the supermarket so we have got something to make for dinner tonight.
At least this time we are heading to the supermarket after lunch so we can't get scrolls!!

Diego and Werribee Zoo

On Tuesday we went to see Diego at Eastland Shopping Centre.

Yesterday we went to Werribee Zoo for Grandma's Birthday, Matilda had a ride in the bus and saw all the animals. She even found a snake to look at!

We saw chickens, rhinos, hippos, lions, giraffes, zebras, meerkats and a few other animals too :)

Trip to the Zoo

20 months old today ... in 4 months we will have a TWO year old. Wow!

Nice sunny day outside today and Daddy was supposed to be at Puffing Billy but he wasn't well :(

We decided to give him some peace and quiet and went to the Zoo. It was a bit different compared to the last time we went to the Zoo, this time she has found her feet and WANTS to use them.

Matilda loves the reptiles and also loves the meerkats. We didn't get to see much of the lions or elephants as they were not up close in their exhibits. We also saw the Giant Tortoises and Matilda said TURTLE!!! at the top of her voice ... Maybe Uncle Nick can explain to her the difference between a turtle and a tortoise when she gets bigger ...

She had a bit of a snooze in the car on the way there, before lunch! so when we got there she was a little energiser bunny running around everywhere and thinking it was great fun. Next time I'll need to pack the monkey harness and not leave it in the car.

I got her a fridge magnet jigsaw puzzle and she had a choice between elephant or tiger and chose the tiger.
There are a couple of photos on the photo blog but couldn't really take photos and chase Matilda at the same time!!

I think we need to take Matilda to Werribee Zoo next :)

Our Big Adventure to the City

Yesterday we decided to go to the city again to visit Angelene who is back in hospital again. We hope she gets better soon!

We drove to the station. Got the train, then got a tram, then visited Angelene. Got another tram to visit the people I worked with and then got another train home.

Matilda was asleep for most of the train trip home. There is a new photo of her sitting on the tram on the photo blog.

Next week we are going to go see Diego at the shopping centre. Matilda loved Dora so she will like Diego too, especially if Baby Jaguar is also there, RAR RAR!!

Trip to the gym

Today we went to the gym/creche and then afterwards I stopped to have coffee with some of the other people there. Matilda joined us for a babycino :) She loved it!

On the way home we stopped off and bought Matilda a truck, she loves the ones at creche, Daddy will like this one too, as it also doubles as a jigsaw puzzle, you can take it apart with the screwdriver that came with it and put it back together again.

On Sunday we are off to Albert Park Lake to do the 5 km walk. Might even see if Matilda wants to walk some of it by herself ... will make sure we have got the stroller as well!! Could take a while if I let her walk the full 5 kms. Little Miss Independent will try and do it herself though.

Trying new foods

Cheeky monkey has been trying new foods last night we had gnocchi for dinner and Matilda had some of that, she liked it and was sitting there happily feeding it to herself :)

Tonight we had Shepherds Pie for dinner and she liked that one too. It was funny when she cracked it half way through saying "there" and I'd put the bowl down and she'd crack it again pointing to her mouth!! In other words IN THERE !!

Always good when she has something I've made and says mmmmmm yummy while eating it.

Nanna will be impressed because the Shepherds pie looked and tasted just like hers :)

Mummy's little helper

I was unloading the dishwasher on Friday and Matilda was watching me do it.

I took out a plate and put it in the cupboard, then Matilda took one out and handed it to me to put away.
Looks like I've got a little helper :)

She has also got a few more teeth, won't let me check to count them! There are at least two molars in there and another one on its way.

And she LOVES roast chicken, should have taken a before photo of the plate of chicken and veggies she ate for dinner last night ... Num Num ... There, Ta, Eat? hmmm translated that is she wanted the food put on the table of the high chair so she could eat it, and didn't leave any behind at all.

One more week until Grandma and Grandpa get back from their holiday ... you won't recognise Matilda, she is walking and talking and has a mouthful of teeth, just don't put your fingers in there!

Words words and more words

Matilda is learning more and more new words all the time, and what they mean as well.

When she gets dressed she knows that it is pants, socks, shoes, top

She knows and can point to her hair, ears, nose, eyes, mouth, belly, hands, feet

She knows pink, green, black and purple ... not always getting those right! but she tries.

She knows all her numbers from 1 to 10, and can say them when she wants to as well :)

She has got a jigsaw puzzle with letters and pictures on it, she will bring you or point to the drum, ball, apple, and other pieces and can say drum, ball, apple

She can also say Narna, bread, weetbix so knows what she wants and usually when she wants it! She gets up now and it is weetbix?

It is great now that she can tell me what she wants, well most of the time, lately she has been getting frustrated and has been having temper tantrums, seems to like being able to help though because if you say "What's next?" when she is getting dressed etc she will calm down.

Getting in and out the the car and high chair it is "Clicks" to undo or do up the straps as well.

Today we got home from the gym/creche and Matilda said "Park" so I had to go inside grab the camera and off we went to the park for some more fun and games :)

I took quite a few photos showing everything that Matilda did at the park and chose a couple to put on her photo blog.

I think Matilda might be a Personal Trainer when she gets bigger, she loved making me go up the steps and then down the slide again, and wasn't too impressed when I stopped doing it either.

18 Month check up

Yesterday Matilda had her 18 month check up at the Nurse.

She was being a little show off and showing the Nurse how to do the jigsaw puzzle, she hadn't seen this one before but knew exactly where each piece of it went :)

Her weight was 11.8 kilos, head 49.5 cm and 82 cm tall. Time to buy her some bigger clothes to grow into because she hasn't grown as much as they thought she would ... oops, no more suits for you miss, they don't come in your size any more.

The nurse seems happy with Matilda and how she is growing and developing, she went over to the keyboard and started saying, F, L etc and the Nurse said, Matilda you don't need to know those yet! Smart little cookie :)

Busy few days

On Saturday morning we went to the play centre. It was the first time Matilda had been to one and she loved playing with all the different things there, mainly finding all the balls and bringing them to me!

Saturday afternoon Uncle David and Leanne came to visit us and saw Matilda walking around and greeting them at the door. She is on the move now!

Sunday we went to Emily's 2nd birthday party, Happy Birthday Emily, hope you had a great day.

18 month injection

Yesterday Matilda had her 18 month injection, only one of them this time and it was in her arm.

She was very brave and only cried a little bit just before it happened, and then a little after it was done.

She was more annoyed at having to leave all the toys behind when we left the Drs surgery!

She is still walking around everywhere and is becoming an expert at jigsaw puzzles. Time to think of some other way to challenge her.

Another song stuck in my head

If you're happy and you know it clap your hands *clap clap* another new song learned today at swimming and the other one was "Down by the station early in the morning see all the puffing billys all in a row ..."

Don't remember hearing that one before but I remember the first one!
Not quite sure how many teeth Matilda has at the moment she won't let us have a look.

She is also getting much quicker on those feet and walking everywhere, only took us half as long to get home from the park the other day, only problem was that she wanted to go and follow the puppy and not go home.

She is a real little character.

Mini Maestros and the park

Today we had our Mini Maestros session and Matilda is enjoying herself a lot more now that she can get up and dance with everyone. She is also trying to sing along to the songs :) New term so new songs to get stuck in your head ... "The wheels on the bus go round and round ..."

This afternoon we had sunny weather for the second day in a row so we went to the park :)
Remembered to take the camera with so a few more photos to go up on the photo blog.

Happy 1.5 Birthday

Matilda is now 1.5 or 18 months old. That means we have to make another appointment for some more injections and have got another check up with the Nurse to find out how much she now weighs and how tall she is.

She is now walking around whenever she can but freaks out if I put her down somewhere like at the Bakery ... that is a good thing because it means that she is less likely to wander off!

On Thursday night she managed to bite through the last of her dummies so she went to bed without it and was not impressed!! She decided that waking up at 5:30 in the morning was a pretty good idea of revenge, as she managed to do that on Saturday and Sunday as well :( *yawns*

Sunday morning I explained to her that it was still dark outside and she needed to get more sleep, that seemed to work because she went back to sleep and got up at 9 o'clock instead.

This morning she was up at 7:30 which is much better for during the week as it gives us enough time to get ready to go out. Today we went to the craft session at the CWA and Matilda had a lot of fun wandering around the hall showing everyone how she could walk and also doing her jigsaw puzzle.

Once she gets up after her sleep we will have to rug up and go to the park, it is still muddy outside but it should be okay for a few photos and to let her wander around for a little while. Now I just have to make that appointment for the injections :(

Matilda had lots of fun today at Mini Maestros, it was great to see her joining in with everyone, she was pretty much walking around for the whole session except for maybe one or two songs :)

Trip to the park

Today we decided that the weather was nice and sunny so we'd go for a trip to the park.

Matilda went to the park in her brrm brrm (pink tricycle) and went on the swing and the slide and the cow, and the horse, and the bunny ... lots of fun things to play on.

Then she refused to get back into her brrm brrm to come home she wanted to WALK home from the park, and she did, only ended up on her butt two or three times but she walked all the way from the swings to the front door.

Well done Matilda :) I'm uploading photos to the photo blog and will see if the video uploads too. I hope you all liked the last one of her finding her feet. I can't believe that in two weeks she will be 18 months old!

Update - teeth, steps, and trip to the city

On Monday we went for another trip to the city, this time so Mummy could go to the dentist :( Matilda got to say hello to Aunty Joy :)

We checked inside Matilda's moth on one of those rare occasions when we could and saw that there was not one but THREE new teeth in there, so that brings the total number of teeth up to SEVEN :) Yay won't the nurse be impressed at the end of the month.

Matilda is also now taking up to SIX steps at a time :) When she gets distracted by the TV she can also walk backwards and sideways too!

She is also learning lots more words, including bubbles ... have a look at the pictures from Daddy's bubble bath special and you will see why she knows that word. She loves to get her picture books and bring them over to you and point out all the pictures that she knows, keys, cack cack, brrm brrm, socks, shoes, cup and all the other ones she knows.

Back to Mini Maestros, swimming and playgroup next week.

Today Matilda and I were playing with her ball and she was kicking it.

The ball rolled a bit further than Matilda could reach, so she took two steps out and kicked it YAY Matilda.

Interesting piece of trivia ... Australia's National Football Team (soccer) is called the MATILDA's
Now how ironic is that, she really is living up to her name, loves weetbix and vegemite and now wants to play football too.

Love you gorgeous girl, soon you will be on the move in no time.

Our Big Adventure

Yesterday we decided to go and visit Angelene in hospital.

We tried to go in to visit her last Friday but could not find any parking, this time however we decided to take the train :) Matilda has been on a choo choo before but this trip was a bit further than that.

We drove to the station half way down the train line to shorten the train trip. Found a car park and then went in to find the train ... had to find the lift to go down to the platform.

We got the train into the city, it stopped all stations and each time the doors shut at the next station Matilda would say beep beep and as we were moving she would say choo choo.
The train went direct so we had to get another train to Southern Cross and catch the tram up Collins Street. This was Matilda's first trip on a tram and she thought that was pretty good too, more beep beeps as the doors shut at each stop.

We went in to the hospital and said hello to Angelene for a little while but couldn't stay too long because we had to venture back home again so that Matilda could have dinner. For the trip home we decided to catch the tram all the way back to the station. By the time we got back to the station it was all dark and nearly six o'clock! not bad considering we left home at 2:30. We then picked up the car from the station and drove home, getting home just before Daddy got home from work.

I took a couple of photos of Matilda on the train and the tram but the camera batteries are flat and I am waiting for them to recharge. Once the batteries have recharged I'll put the photos up on the photo blog.

17 Months Old & Chocolate Cake

Matilda is now 17 months old, wow time flies.

Last night we had roast chicken for dinner and Matilda ate all of it all the chicken and all the veggies :)
She also enjoyed the piece of chocolate cake for dessert and you can see from the photos in the photo blog that she enjoyed making a big mess with it too.

Today we went to gym/creche and to the CWA. Tomorrow we might go on a choo choo into the city for something different :)

School Holidays

At the moment we are currently on school holidays :) pretty good considering Matilda isn't at school yet.
Swimming, Music and Playgroup all take a break during the school holidays so we will have to find a few other things to do instead.

Might have to go for a few car rides here and there to get out and see new things :)

Matilda is learning new things and new words all the time, she knows where her hair, hands, tummy, nose, and feet are and her list of words keeps growing every day.

Mum-mum, Daddy, choo choo, cack cack, down, up, eat, narna, brrm brrm, backpack, and lots of other words too those are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head.

Matilda eating dinner

Matilda has started trying to feed herself her dinner ... this results in some of it going down the front of her pants when the spoon misses her mouth!

This morning we were getting ready to go to the gym/creche and found out that Matilda had run out of long pants to wear so it was time to do another load of washing when we got back :) Washing is in the machine so lets see how long this sunshine lasts!!

Yes that's right Matilda need the keys and the backpack before we can go out the door to the car :)

Yesterday I went to Spotlight to get some buttons for the new jumper that Grandma made, I was very good and only came back from there with buttons! Thankfully I had some wool that was a similar colour so that I could attach the buttons, all ready for Matilda to wear.

Matilda is having a snooze at the moment and after she wakes up we will go to the shops and get cheesymite scrolls for lunch ... YUM, Matilda's favourite.

Tomorrow Grandma and Grandpa are off on a holiday overseas ... they will be going on a plane!
We have got a copy of where they are going so we will be able to keep track of them on google earth.
We have also got skype so we can have a chat to them and they can see how much Matilda has grown while they are away :) Matilda is part of a tech savvy family so she may as well learn about it all now :)

Matilda's second haircut

This morning we went to gym/creche and then to the library.

This afternoon we went to the hairdressers and Matilda had her second haircut. She was very well behaved sitting still the whole time that they were cutting her hair :)

Looked like a big girl in that chair. Managed to sneak a photo of her to put on the photo blog too.
Matilda also loves Narna's she ate a whole banana after her dinner in record time! Just was very sticky afterwards.

Playdate today with Jason

Today we took Matilda's tricycle for a big big ride all the way to playgroup and then to the supermarket.

This afternoon Jason and his Mum came over to play :) Matilda and Jason were both in the hospital together and he is two days older than Matilda.

He was born early, he wasn't supposed to arrive until March :) It was great to see them playing at the park together. We have told them that we won't leave it too far between visits next time.

Just seeing how the photos turned out to see if any of them get posted onto the blog.
Yesterday we went to swimming and tomorrow we are off to gym/creche so it is great to be back to normal again now that we no longer have our colds.

4 toofy pegs and other happenings

Matilda has now got 4 teeth!! Yes 4 toofy pegs

I got a bread maker for Mothers Day, Matilda likes the white bread but the multigrain gives her gas! oops
She loves her weetbix for breakfast and her vegemite sandwiches for lunch.

I've been trying her with different snacks to see how she goes, she loves the corn crackers with apple and banana ... hmm different and she also loves pinching half of my hot chocolate (when it cools down) when we go out for coffee. So much so that I had to put it into her cup and it disappeared very quickly! :)

We have missed swimming, playgroup and music over the last two weeks because we have all had a rotten cold but I've enjoyed the sleep ins! Matilda didn't wake up until 11:15 the other morning, no wonder I felt groggy.

She will also manage to eat most of a banana and seems to also like squishing it in her fingers :( very messy!

Today I went to boot camp, first exercise in two weeks, can't take Matilda to creche if she is not well, that is how you become very unpopular and Matilda had great fun watching me running up and back and being my little cheer squad, even offering me her cup to have a drink every now and then.

My very own little personal trainer :) ... oh and Grandma ... we think Matilda is definitely going to be an Engineer when she grows up, sorry! she tried to put her rusk biscuit into the hole and it wouldn't fit so she bit some off and then tried again! Most other little kids would have given up after the first try.

Mothers Day 2010

Happy Grandma and Nanna day to Grandma and Nanna from Matilda.

Today we went for a big big walk, all 8 kms of it. We did the Mothers Day Classic again, seems to be a bit of a habit now which is good :) Matilda enjoyed herself and stayed awake for the whole walk. I turned her around in the pram at 6 kms so that she could see me and she was no longer grumpy.

Then we went to the Zoo to see the animals. Matilda loved the tigers and the lions "Rar Rar" and the ducks too "cack cack". I finally got to see the baby elephant but didn't take any photos of it ... oops

Back to normal again

we've been back to normal again with gym/music/swimming/playgroup etc all keeping us busy

Matilda has managed to sleep in a few mornings and miss a couple of them but I let her every now and then (mainly because I enjoy the sleep in too) :)

Today we went to music class and also for a trip into the city to see the people I worked with.
Matilda got grumpy and decided that she was tired so we came home again, only paid for one hour of parking so it was probably good timing!!

$4 for one hour ... ouch! Tomorrow we are off to swimming, and I think we might have to get Matilda a bigger swimsuit because she has just about outgrown the current one. Looking forward to finding out how much she has grown but that is not for another couple of months and I am not going to cheat and measure her with the tape measure :) Have got a couple of photos on my camera, just seeing if any of them are worth posting.

Pancakes for lunch

Today I gave Matilda some pancakes for lunch, something different to sandwiches ... she wasn't sure about them at first (or was that the strawberry jam on them??) but she seemed to like them, just didn't like waiting for me to cook them!!

Looks like that third tooth is still trying to make an appearance .. once it is visible and Matilda will let me near it I'll try and take a photo of it.

Yesterday was the first music session for the new term, Matilda enjoyed herself and we got homework!!!
We have to colour in a picture of a bee and a flower and stick them on cardboard ... then we have to cut them out and attach the flower to an icy pole stick ... hmm that means someone is going to have to eat an ice cream so we get the stick :)

We didn't go to swimming this morning because Matilda slept in, I was going to wake her up but she has been busy the last few days growing a 3rd toofy peg ... there is a white spot there just waiting for the toofy peg itself to come through ... YAY!!!

This afternoon we will go for awalk to make up for missing swimming this morning, if it is raining we will go for a walk around the shopping centre instead.

Speaking of walks, we are doing the Mothers Day Classic walk again this year, this time we are doing the 8 kms. I am not setting up the sponsorship page this year as it is in a few weeks. Looks like this is going to be a new Mothers Day tradition, getting up early and going for a walk!!

Back to creche and gym :)

Yesterday we went for a big walk 8.6 kms !!!

Today we were back to gym and creche. Matilda had lots of fun at creche, when I went to pick her up I found her in the sandpit having a great time.

I also found her first artwork in her bag as well, my little girl is growing up!

Love you Matilda :) enjoy your sleep and later we will go for another walk.

Dora the Explorer

Today Matilda and I went to see Dora the Explorer at Eastland shopping centre.

Then we bought Matilda a new book with lots of pictures in it, and we went for a trip to Spotlight :)

Good day today, except for Matilda eating 3/4 of my ham and cheese sandwich, next time I'll need to buy two!
There are a couple of photos on the photo blog but not of Matilda :P

More Puffing Billy Photos

I've just added some more puffing billy photos to the photo blog.

Today after swimming we attempted to go to the movies ... got through half of the movie before Matilda got grumpy ... as it wasn't planned we didn't have any snacks for her so next time I'll make sure we take snacks, it was a Mums n Bubs session so there were a few other little ones in there too.

Tomorrow we are off into the city for a dentist appointment, and then on Friday it is gym/creche in the morning and off to the CWA in the afternoon after Matilda has a sleep. Also have to stop off and get some more nappies on the way back, by then we will be running low!!

Puffing Billy

Yesterday Matilda had her first trip on Puffing Billy :) She had a great time on the train!

Today we went to the gym/creche and then to the CWA followed by the mums n bubs fitness session.
We were busy bees.

Hopefully this week we will be able to go and visit Daddy at his work again.

Last Friday Matilda went on her first train trip (only a few stations) and thought it was great fun :)
Saturday we went for a walk to the library
Sunday we went for a walk to the shops
Monday was gym/creche
Tuesday was Music Class ... yay it was back on this week :) Last week was cancelled because of the storm damage
Today we went to swimming and also to Healesville Sanctuary and had a great time looking at the animals.

Daddy says there has not been any new photos for a while (he must be checking up on us) :) so today we took a few of them and will add some to the photo blog.

Tomorrow is playgroup
Friday is gym/creche again
Saturday is rest day and then on Sunday we are off to Puffing Billy .... busy busy busy bees we are :)
Now to pick out some photos for the photo blog!

Music Class and visit to Daddy's work

Today we went to music class (Mini Maestros) and on the way home went to the shops to get some more batteries for Matilda's piano, yep she has worn them out already :)

This afternoon we went to go have a look at Daddy's new office, he has moved out of the temporary office (shoebox) to the new one, much bigger and lots more room.

Matilda had fun crawling around everywhere and exploring the office.
